Digital Health Navigators

According to the Southwest Telehealth Resource Center, Digital Health Navigators address the whole digital inclusion process — connectivity, devices, and digital skills — to support community members and provide access to healthcare. The digital health navigator model draws from volunteers, librarians, social services, or healthcare staff who offer remote and in-person guidance.

Access to telehealth appointments, online healthcare portals, and general information online is still out of reach for many because of the cost of internet services and devices, minimal digital skills, and fear of both technology and privacy breaches. Digital health navigators work with individuals to bridge these gaps. Providers and healthcare systems are increasingly investing in Digital Health Navigator services to improve health outcomes, increase patient engagement, and enhance clinical efficiencies.
